1 vs 1 - RM5,000,000 Showdown!

Strap yourselves in golf fans. The event you have all been waiting for is finally HAPPENING!

Shrouded in secrecy, Sarawak Post can now report that the prestigious 1 vs 1 match up will be played on 1st June 2022 at Kelab Golf Sarawak ("KGS").

Seasoned professionals Aaron a.k.a KL and  Alphonsus a.k.a Poonsood will be putting it all on the line for the grand prize of RM5,000,000.00

The match originally slated for a 2019 date was shelved due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the paltry initial pot of RM3,000,000.00. When interviewed in 2019 Alphonsus had this to say.

"RM3,000,000 only? Are you kidding me? I don't even get out of bed for less than RM5,000,000."

Aaron echoed similar sentiments stating he would rather spend his time competing in the U.S Open at Pebble Beach, which promised a purse of $12,500,000.00.

Title Organizer, AREUOKEH Sdn. Bhd. spokesperson Andrew. B confirmed the new pot prize in yesterday's press conference.

"Yes, in hindsight the initial pot size of RM3,000,000.00 was far too small. We were very   fortunate to secure an additional RM2,000,000 from a generous donor who wishes to remain anonymous."

"We are also very happy to announce that the match up will be officiated by renown professional Ming Geh."

Aaron will be without his regular caddy but will instead be giving this once in a lifetime opportunity to super fan Gordo who jumped at the chance to be on the bag. He could only gush:

"I couldn't believe it when the organizer told me. I had to pinch myself. I am looking forward to being on the bag for Aaron and hope I won't let him down!"

Alphonsus on the other hand will have Andrew.B on the bag.

While both golfers are seasoned professionals, Alphonsus may have an advantage with the match up being played at his home course KGS. When asked about his chances of winning, Alphonsus announced:

"KGS is like my backyard and playground. I have been playing here for so many years and I can probably play this course blindfolded. So what do you think are my chances of winning?"

To the same question, Aaron said:

"Come on. I am a seasoned pro. You can ask me to play on a paddy field and I will still shoot under par. Doesn't matter where the match is played. I will let    my golf do the talking".

So there you have it folks. June cannot come quickly enough!

Ticket prices and spectator details will be confirmed soon. Watch this space!

Samarahan Country Club Christmas Ball Sweep

Saturday, 25/12/2017 - Kuching, Samarahan Country Club

True Champion
- Aaron Ngui
On a day when playing conditions were uneasy, Aaron Ngui Thai Sung victoriously emerged from the pack of 95 hopeful golfers to be crowned the true champion of the Samarahan Country Club annual Christmas Ball Sweep.

It was truly a spectacular victory for the local golf phenom, who carded a sensational score of 62 (-10) to top the mens nett category.

Leaving the other competitors in the dust, Aaron put on a stunning display of golf. From tee to green, Aaron was in scintillating form.

Splitting the fairways with bullet like drives, Aaron was always in position to score. From there he let his short game do the talking. No pin was too far or difficult as he peppered the flag with precision shots.

Spectators were then treated to a putting clinic as Aaron sank putts from all parts of the green, making the hole seem like a crater as he stroked each putt to victory.

The true champion collecting his prize

For his efforts, Aaron collected the winners cheque of RM200.00.

When asked to comment, the tournament director was lost for words. "We tried to make the tournament difficult with the tee boxes pushed back and tricky pin placements, but Aaron made it look so easy. He tore the course apart!"

True Champions Aaron and 2nd runner up Chan Yin Xi

When asked about his victory, Aaron was happy to share his secrets to the victory. "I am naturally talented and gifted, so I let my golf do the talking. It was a competition, but it was just like a normal Saturday round for me. In hokkien, we call it jinpohtong. More importantly, it's not just the skill but the kiangness you need to win and close out tournaments."

It was a magnificent end to 2017 as Aaron completed the kiang lang slam by winning two major club events (Aaron won the Gawai Open House event earlier in the year).

Golfing Rumours have it that Callaway are in final talks with the true champion to sign him as the new face of Callaway Golf.

PGA veteran and Callaway staffer Pil Michaelson would not confirm the rumours, but was quick to share that it would be a sensational signing if Aaron signed on the dotted line. "I have followed Aaron's rise to golf stardom and it would be fantastic to have him in the Callaway camp. I will be flying to Malaysia next week to play with the Prime Minister and I would be more then happy to meet with Aaron"

In the meantime, the MGA have confirmed that instead of the traditional deduction of 3 strokes from his handicap, Aaron will play off "0" beginning of 2018. No surprise given his dominance on the golf course.

For Aaron the true champion kiang lang golfer, this is merely just the beginning.
